Day 23 – Something That You Miss
30 Day Writing Challenge
To start my 30 Day Writing Challenge from the beginning, start here.
Summer is coming to a close, and I am upset about it. When I was a kid, I lived for summer. Days were spent at summer camp, swimming, and running and sweating and getting dirty. Kickball tournaments were a big deal and I didn’t care about tan lines, skin cancer or bad hair days. I miss being a kid. I miss not having to worry about getting a raise, making money, paying bills or having enough gas in my car.
I miss the feeling of a real summer. I miss the feeling of long summer nights spent around a fire and cold swims down the Jersey Shore.
Something I miss? I miss a lot of things. I miss not having any responsibilities and staying up all night. Well, I still stay up all night, but still. Have you ever watched the movie The Sandlot? It’s a great movie and if you were born in the 80’s, it’s a staple. If you haven’t seen it, all I can ask is what you are doing with your life.
The entire feel of the movie is something that I miss…getting into trouble as kids, causing mayhem throughout the neighborhood and getting sticky from eating s’mores. I miss the feeling that the best days of summer were here, and that nothing would ever get better than that moment. I’m glad I savored those times. Because they are gone now.
Summer is a time for working, and sun, and trying not to sweat in your nice clothes. I miss my childhood. I love my life, but I miss being a kid.
What do you miss?
