First things first, when I requested to read this book, I had no idea that it was written by an Australian using Aussie vernacular. That being said, once I realized this, it all made so much more sense. There were little things, like a chemist is a drug store, and a ute is a truck. Kellie reviewed the book as well as said that she hates reading a story where the Aussies get in their “truck” and drive to the “drug store”, so way to go Aleya for getting it right.

Okay, so with all that being said, and getting over a slight language barrier, I liked the story. We first meet Roxy. She’s a twenty-four year old graphic designer that loves to party, her friends, sex and enjoys popping the occasional recreational drug. One night, while out partying, she spots Kade and decides to let him know exactly what she wants. Sex. Roxy doesn’t trust men, she’s never had a reason to, so she’s absolutely shocked when Kade tells her he just wants to buy her a drink and talk. Roxy’s got walls the size of Mount Everest around her heart, and Kade is her surfing knight and shining armor to break them down.

Aleya does a great job of writing about characters that are real, with real jobs and career aspirations. I can tell that she did her research, because her descriptions are great, and I can follow along with everything in my head. For me though, in the beginning of the book, there was just a bit too much of the mushy “I love you” moments in the beginning. Also, at times, I felt like I was reading the same parts over and over again as the author gave each character a chance to tell what happened. While that could be beneficial, I felt that there was no added value to the story.

But it’s a good read. And Kade is sexy as hell. He’s not the typical hot surfer guy that’s had sex with everyone and is looking for a conquest. I thought Aleya did really well with this book. I’m going to read the next one.

Healing My Heart picks up exactly where Breaking My Heart leaves off. It’s been months, and Kade and Roxy haven’t spoken. He needs to focus on his career as a pro surfer and Roxy needs to focus on getting herself together and moving on with her life. She meets Dylan, who seems to be everything she needs. He’s fresh out of an engagement himself, so they seem perfect for each other; they can help each other heal. But there’s something about Dylan Roxy just can put her finger on. Something is off. It seems like little things at first, but they soon blossom into huge problems.

Kade knows that Roxy has moved on and is in a relationship with Dylan. While he understands that he hurt her, and her needing to move on, it still hurts like hell. But he knows something is off. He can tell when he sees her – she’s not happy. She’s not safe. Will Kade be able to look after Roxy’s safety while still trying to take his career to the next level? You’re just going to have to read to find out.

I really liked this book, even better than I liked book one. I was happy, I was sad, outraged and there are some really steamy scenes. Overall, I would totally recommend this book, and I can’t wait to see what book three has in store. If you liked book 1, you will definitely like this one.
