Arrogant, brooding, domineering, possessive, dangerously handsome, and a playboy. These are all of the characteristics on Rebecca Gellar’s Run-Like-Hell list for men, but she’s about to meet the man who’s the epitome of these and more…
After breaking off her engagement with Hollywood actor Miles Storm, Rebecca is ready for a change of scenery in her life and in her bed. So when the opportunity to work for StoneHaven Publishing, one of New York City’s most respectable publishing empires presents itself, Rebecca doesn’t hesitate moving to the Big Apple. Convinced she can show the owner of StoneHaven Publishing that she has the “right stuff,” Rebecca agrees to a six month trial as the personal assistant to the owner’s playboy son, Nicholas StoneHaven.
This is her big chance. If she can just get through these six months without strangling Nicholas with his Armani tie, she’ll be okay – easier said than done. Nicholas is the last person Rebecca thought she’d find herself pining for, especially when he hits every category under her list. Get ready for a battle of the sexes… *This novel includes all three volumes combined.
Let me start off my saying two things:
- This is the first book I’ve read by Mrs. Booke
- I’ve stayed away from most “billionaire” stories since my fiasco with 50 Shades of Gray
Now that that’s out of the way, I’m a fan. We start off this romance erotica being tossed in the middle of Rebecca Gellar finding her boyfriend in between the sheets with another woman. Already, I’m hooked.
Rebecca’s an average, all American girl who’s dating a move star. He’s no Brad Pitt, but he’s working on it. Miles is caught up with his co-star and Rebecca is having none of it. No matter how much Miles tries to make Rebecca believe he had sex with his co-star to create more on screen chemistry, Rebecca is over it.
Feeling her ties to L.A. are no longer as strong as they once were, Rebecca takes a chance and applies for a job with her dream company, StoneHaven Publishing. She gets the interview.
Halfway into her flight, things are looking up when she meets a handsome gentleman in First Class. He’s attractive but there’s no way – especially so soon after Miles.
Little does she know…
Several chance meetings with the hottie from First Class have her realizing she wants him. Passions begin to flare and then his fiancé walks in.
This is where Volume 1 stops. I was hooked and excited to read more, but honestly, if I had only bought Volume 1, I would have been upset. Not because the story was bad, but because it was only a teaser for the full story. But, I got the entire story, so I’m happy.
Volume 2 and 3 progress nicely, and leave you feeling pretty satisfied with Rebecca’s story. There are a few questions left at the end, but I believe this is so Mrs. Booke has room to continue telling these character’s stories as well as creating stories for other characters in her stories.
I like Rebecca. I like her a lot. I’m a little tired of all the female main characters that need rescuing. I’m sick of female main characters that don’t know what they way until a strong, Alpha billionaire comes along and tells them what they want. It’s annoying. Give me a real woman any day, and I’m down.
I totally recommend this read, just make sure to get the boxed set. It’s good.
