Write It Out – Inspiration: 6 Years From Now
Thinking about the future can often induce a panic attack. I get so worked up in stressing how things will work that I forget I’m in a happy and healthy place now. Thinking about the future shouldn’t be an exercise in criticizing yourself for not being further along, it should be an exercise in thinking about direction.
- Where do you see yourself in 6 years? Are you writing?
- Where are you writing?
- If you’re not writing, what are you doing?
- Where are you?
- Are you happy?
- Who is with you?
- Outline a 6 year plan for your writing career: what are the things you wish to accomplish?
Use these questions to get your fingers flying over the keys, or get your pen scratching on paper. Don’t think about the answers too much, just write what you feel. If you’re feeling ambitious, try extending these questions to your characters and see where it takes you.
